Who we are

This website belongs to the Central Alberta FASD Network (CAFASD), a non-profit organization in Red Deer, Alberta. We follow Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

What we collect

When you send the contact form, we collect what you type into it: your name, email address, phone number (if you give it), the topic you pick and your message. Please do not put private health details in the form. We can talk about them with you by phone or in person.

If you accept cookies, we also collect usage data through Google Analytics. See the next section.

Google Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics to see how people find and use this site, for example which pages get visits and which towns visitors come from. Google Analytics turns on only after you press "Accept" on the cookie banner. It then sets cookies in your browser and collects data such as pages viewed, time on the site, the website that sent you, your device and browser type, and your general location.

We use this data only in summary form to improve the site. We do not use it to identify you, and we do not use it for advertising. Google processes this data on its servers, which can be outside Canada. Google's own use of the data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.

You can stop Google Analytics from collecting your data:

• Press "Decline" on the cookie banner.
• Install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
• Block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

The site also saves your cookie choice in your browser so the banner does not show again. That setting does not leave your device.

How we use your information

We use the details you send through the contact form only to reply to you and to help with your question. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We do not add you to a mailing list.

Who else handles it

A few service providers help us run this site. They handle data only to provide their service to us:

• Vercel hosts the website. Like most web hosts, it keeps short technical logs of visits.
• Freeform delivers contact form messages to our email inbox.
• Google provides Google Analytics and the fonts used on this site.

Some of these providers store data outside Canada, including in the United States. Data stored there can be subject to the laws of that country.

How long we keep it

We keep contact form messages in our email for as long as we need them to answer you and to keep records of our work. If you ask us to delete your information and we do not need it for our services or a legal reason, we will delete it.

Your rights

Under PIPA, you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent. To do this, contact us with the details below.
