Restorative Justice & Community Outreach Worker | We are seeking to fill a full-time, one-year contract Restorative Diversion & Community Outreach Worker position serving Red Deer and the surrounding area, with the possibility of renewing the term.
Job Summary:
The Restorative Diversion & Community Outreach Worker supports youth and adults, particularly those with suspected or diagnosed Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), by promoting diversion from the criminal justice system through restorative, community-based approaches. The role provides individualized case management, advocacy, and system navigation at all stages of justice involvement, from pre-charge through provincial and federal court processes. Working collaboratively with RCMP, Crown prosecutors, defense counsel, correctional institutions, community organizations, and government agencies, the incumbent builds strong partnerships to improve access to support and services. Through community outreach, the position fosters relationships with service providers, raises awareness of FASD and restorative justice, and provides education, guidance, and support to individuals, families, and caregivers to strengthen natural support networks and improve access to community resources. The role empowers clients to actively participate in setting and achieving personal goals that reflect their unique strengths, cultural values, and socioeconomic circumstances while promoting inclusive, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive practices that support long-term success. |
